For the last three years, on Christmas Day, I’ve gone with my family to La Côte Brasserie at the Renaissance Arts Hotel in the Arts District in New Orleans. What’s unique about this hotel is that the lobby and restaurant are all littered with art. There are even two skylight areas on the second floor with sculptures. The first year we ate there, I didn’t think to bring my camera. The last two years I remembered.

As for the carpet, I am a sucker for bright colored spirals. A few years ago I drew a color pencil piece called “Curls Gone Wild.” By the way, I like seeing the word “beautiful” in a sentence about my work.

ReplyDeleteOK, now I’m blushing. ‘Glad you liked my punny drawing. By the way I completed that piece at the beginning of 2005 – the year of Hurricane Katrina and many other storms.
I mention this because of a series of spiral paintings I painted in 1998. You see, I named the pieces using the Atlantic Storm Names List for 1998. And the kicker is that the day of the scheduled reception, Hurricane George hit New Orleans. The reception had to be pushed back a whole week.
So, I have to be cautious about making spiral art. : D
