The Poydras Home Art Show and Sale was held last Saturday, November 1st, 2014. Yes, the show was only up for one day this year. My three new paintings hung in inside. This year they were grouped together in an area with lots of windows. Yay for lots of natural light! A friend was kind enough to take a photo of me with my art. Monday I picked them up.

Veinticuatro
The last painting includes purples, violets and magentas. My process for adding dots was very slow on this painting as well. No dot smearings allowed. Yet again I used an "X" design to arrange the dots.

Veintitrés
The second painting involves greens and blue-greens. Again my process for adding dots was very slow. I take great pains to avoid smearing the rows of dots. And, I used an "X" design to arrange the dots.

Ninth Year!
Today my dot art blog turns nine. Even though I have not been creating many new works, I still managed to create three new dot paintings for the Poydras Home Art Show this coming weekend. Naturally less painting has meant less posting.
Last summer a venue for my dot art, Ele Shoes & Accessories, closed. About the same time I was allowed to hang some work at The Rook Cafe. In September, I was invited to display a one artist exhibit there. The show is still hanging.
For now I'm at a creative crossroads. Hopefully I'll find a new direction to take my dot art. I cannot let my past process trip me up as I go forward. So, I anticipate some changes coming.

Veintidos
Over the weekend I finished three new dot paintings. The first of these three harkens back to the original eight with variations of orange and red-orange. My process for adding dots was very slow. I didn't want to risk smearing one set of dots as I added another row. I used an "X" design to arrange the dots.

Phase II, Third of Three
Today I celebrate the second coat of acrylic on this canvas. And now I'm gearing up to add the dots. Hopefully the final stage will go smoothly.

Phase II, Second of Three
Here is the second canvas with a second coat of acrylic paint. I revised some of
the
colors. And then again, I may even revise more colors. At this point I'm still ahead of schedule.

Phase II, First of Three
Recently I completed the second coat of acrylic paint on this canvas. The next step will involve a pattern of dots on top. So far I'm ahead of schedule.

The Reception!
Friday night was the reception for my one artist show at The Rook Cafe located at 4516 Freret Street in Uptown New Orleans. My sister, who organized the event, made sure there was plenty food and drink to be had. Below are some photos from the evening. There was a steady trickle of friends and family coming and going.

The Show Is Up!
As of Monday eighteen of my dot paintings are hanging on the walls of "The Back Room" at The Rook Cafe. The cafe is located at 4516 Freret Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. The group of paintings are from a series I call "Numeros." A while back I needed to give the paintings titles before they were finished. So, I chose Spanish numbers. Anyway, these works will be up through October 9, 2014.
Friday, September 19, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m., is the evening reception for my art show. Hopefully the weather will remain mild and free of hurricanes. September is often a busy month for tropical storms.

Phase I, Third of Three
And finally here is the third painting of this grouping. Again I'm using an "X" design format. So far this is painting only has one coat of paint. Of course the painting will change as I complete the next two phases.

Phase I, Second of Three
Below is the second painting I'm working on for the Poydras Home Art Show. I've only painted one layer of paint thus far. Again I'm working with an "X" design format. At this stage I have no idea how this painting will turn out.

Phase I, First of Three
November may be a few months away, but i wanted to start on my next three dot paintings for the Poydras Home Art Show. Last weekend I painted the first layer of acrylic paint on three canvases. Below is the first of the three. This year I'm playing
with an "X" design format. I'm not quite sure how this will go. But it is time to work on these paintings.

This past Monday the owner of The Rook Cafe allowed me to hang two of my dot paintings on the wall. He has scheduled me for a show, in the back room, in September. Below are photos from The Rook Cafe is located at 4516 Freret Street in Uptown New Orleans.

Ele Shoes Closes
Ele Shoes and Accessories is closing at the end of June. I took down my art this Friday. For nine years my dot art hung at Ele. I'm sad to see the shop close. Below are the paintings that were hanging at Ele this past spring.
