The titles of the last group of paintings all contained the letter “o.” I simply named them as I produced them keeping the order alphabetical. Half of the titles had “o” as the second letter and the other half had “o” as the first letter. It was simply a means of naming them – admittedly arbitrary. OK, so some folks titter a bit as they say a few of the titles. I guess in the back of my head I was thinking “oh, no” as I watched the aftermath of Katrina in Memphis. That was all that was on the television for days. I finally bought a cheap DVD player and appropriate cables etc. to hook up to the television in my hotel room.
Anyway, for this next group of paintings, I decided I’d stick with vowels. But this time, I decided to go back to the first vowel in alphabetic order, “a.” This group of twenty-six paintings is based on experiences and places spanning the period, June through December of ’06. For the moment I am still trying to decide how to denote both parts of the “a” series. So, without further ado, here are the first three paintings I managed to finish.
